SAP GUI is the desktop client used to connect to an SAP system. Eclipse with ADT is a separate development environment and is only needed for exercises that use ABAP Development Tools.

Follow both steps. The first download installs the client; the second updates it with Patch 1.

Download SAP GUI 8.10Choose the patch that matches the 32- or 64-bit SAP GUI edition you installed.
Not sure? Check the SAP GUI edition installed on your computer. Most current installations use 64-bit, but the patch must match your installed client.
Use this older version only when SAP GUI 8.10 cannot be installed or has a compatibility problem on your computer.
The Java client is the usual choice for macOS and Linux. A Windows version is also available, although the native Windows client above is recommended whenever possible.

Open Apple menu → About This Mac. Choose Intel if it says Intel; choose ARM for an Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 or later chip.

ABAP development
Eclipse is not a replacement for SAP GUI. It is a separate development environment used for modern ABAP development with ADT.
Install this section only if your training or development work specifically requires Eclipse or ABAP Development Tools.
This is the Eclipse release currently listed as tested on this page.
